Somewhere off the map

Well this is a surprise. We have driven up into the wilds of Fujian province (Travelpod can't find us on a map) specifically to visit the Earthen (large community earth dwellings of the Hakka community). Having visited the "oldest" and the "largest" complex we were wondering just how
basic our accommodation would be. However Fuyu Lou is a square community dwelling which has been partially converted into a very atmospheric guest house, with a central courtyard . The house belongs to the Ling clan and is 129 years old. The rooms are plain but comfortable and have - wonder of wonders.
